Topic:
“Are There Limits to Catholic Morality?”
Presented by:
Brother Edward Tverdek, OFM
Hosting Parish:
St. Celestine at 3020 N. 76th Court in Elmwood Park, IL

About the Topic - How much does Catholic morality demand of us? In this installment of the inter-parish “Hot Topics” series, Brother Edward Tverdek, OFM, examines our intuitions about the moral demands we face as Catholics and assesses just how they might square with Catholic Social Teaching on the various ways we “cooperate” with evil. Should we be doing more to aid the impoverished, avert climate change, and otherwise prepare for the kingdom of God? Brother Ed suggests that the answers may ask more of us that we previously thought.

About The Speaker - Br. Edward Tverdek (the “T” is silent) is a Franciscan of the Sacred Heart Province of the U.S. He is completing studies toward priestly ordination at Catholic Theological Union in Hyde Park, where he is also an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy. His recent book, The Moral Weight of Ecology (2015) is available on Lexington Press.

A small reception will follow discussion!
